Parent Support Therapy

If a child is going through a hard time, often a parent is also under stress. Parent support therapy helps parents learn skills to separate their experience from that of their child, gain confidence in parenting, and help their child approach difficulties while feeling supported. This is a collaborative process where parents develop their tools and strategies to effectively navigate the challenges of parenting, improve the parent-child relationship, and create a positive family environment. Therapy offers guidance for handling issues related to specific stages of child development from infancy to adolescence.

Parent support therapy will help parents understand the underlying causes of behavior, implement behavioral interventions, and work on consistency in responses. Often this approach helps parents better understand their family dynamics, such as conflicts between parents, sibling rivalry, or challenges related to blended families. Its goal is to promote healthy interactions and improve overall family functioning. When parents engage in this approach they often experience enhanced communication with their child, increased trust, and improved strategies for constructively resolving conflicts.
