LGBTQIA+
LGBTQIA+ affirming psychotherapy appreciates the needs and strengths of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and non-cisgender individuals. Psychology’s previous history of hostility toward gender diversity and queer sexualities created obstacles for patients who wanted access to high-quality mental health services that understood and appreciated gender and sexual identity. Prospect Psychology provides an affirming environment within which patients will find support for their overall mental health and well-being. We support patients in responding to challenges related to identity, discrimination, and social stigma, and we encourage depth-oriented therapy for increased insight, growth, and self-understanding.
The practice sees children and teens undergoing social transitioning and exploring gender expression. Clinicians are skilled in offering support to children, teens, families and, when necessary, consulting with schools.
